Breakwater-backed advertising agency Chemistry has acquired Boston-based creative agency Colossus for undisclosed terms, establishing Chemistry Boston as its fifth US office. This marks Chemistry's first major acquisition since partnering with Breakwater in 2025. Colossus, recognized three times as an Ad Age Small Agency of the Year, specializes in brand identity, design systems, and visual storytelling.
Recent clients include Adobe Acrobat, Wellness Pet Company, Kayem, and Astound Broadband. The agency also collaborated with Moderna, Google, Microsoft, and MIT on the Kendall Square rebranding project and won an Emmy for an autism film featuring Jon Stewart. The acquisition provides Chemistry with dedicated design capabilities and a stronger presence in the Boston market.
Colossus clients will now access Chemistry's broader services including creative, production, strategy, media, public relations, and digital solutions. Chemistry serves major clients such as Coca-Cola, Marriott, Salesforce, Netflix, and the NFL.
