U.S. striker Folarin Balogun has been omitted from Monaco's Conference League squad following the collapse of his proposed transfer to Everton. The 24-year-old forward was close to joining the Premier League club for a reported £40 million ($54 million) before pulling out of the deal because he felt uncomfortable that the English club raised doubts about his health during a medical examination. Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro confirmed Balogun is back in group training but has not featured in any of the team's four games this season.

Monaco are under pressure to sell Balogun to comply with French league financial regulations. Scuro indicated it is still possible the New York-born striker could move to a league where the transfer window remains open, with the Saudi Pro League as a potential option, as the window closes on Oct. 12.

Balogun's failed Everton transfer highlights the underwhelming summer window for the USMNT. Meanwhile, Japan attacking midfielder Takumi Minamino, returning from an eight-month ACL injury, has been included in Monaco's squad for the trip to Paris Saint-Germain. Monaco begin the Conference League league phase on Oct. 15 against PSV Eindhoven.
