Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson asserts that signing De Zerbi is the best financial investment the club could make if they manage to avoid relegation. Merson emphasized that whatever the cost, keeping De Zerbi on board is non-negotiable if Spurs are to survive the drop.

However, Merson also raised concerns about whether the current squad possesses the technical ability to adapt to De Zerbi's high-pressing, possession-based style of play.
