Ashley Phillips scored the unlikely late match-winner as Middlesbrough edged a seven-goal thriller, beating Norwich 4-3 at Riverside Stadium. Mohamed Toure opened the scoring for Norwich within 50 seconds, but Sebastian Berhalter quickly levelled for Middlesbrough with his first goal for the club. Amario Cozier-Duberry then put Middlesbrough ahead before Berhalter added a second just before halftime to make it 3-1.

Norwich fought back with goals from Jovon Makama and Jacob Wright to level at 3-3, but Phillips struck in the dying seconds after arriving from Tottenham to secure a third straight home win for Middlesbrough. The match featured end-to-end action, including a fine one-handed save by goalkeeper Radek Vitek and numerous chances at both ends. Middlesbrough's Kim Hellberg praised his team's character and quality in a thrilling encounter.
