Coco Gauff saved two match points to defeat French Open winner Mirra Andreeva 2-6 7-6 (7) 6-2, setting up a US Open semi-final against new world No 1 Elena Rybakina. Gauff struggled early, losing the first set in just 26 minutes with only three winners and 14 unforced errors. She improved in the second set, forcing a tie-break where Andreeva squandered two chances to win the match.

Andreeva's frustration boiled over as she hurled her racket toward her chair, nearly hitting a camera operator. Gauff, inspired by fellow American Frances Tiafoe's comeback the day before, reset and dominated the final set. Sky Sports analyst Marion Bartoli praised Gauff's resilience, saying, "That was just pure heart... Coco Gauff is one of the only players in the world capable of winning a match like that."

Bartoli noted Andreeva will be "incredibly disappointed" after having match points, but will learn from the experience. Earlier, Rybakina clinched the world No 1 ranking by beating Qinwen Zheng to reach the last four.
