Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers returned to practice Friday for the first time since undergoing a meniscus trim procedure on Sept. 8, but coach Klint Kubiak said he is doubtful for Sunday's divisional game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Bowers had missed five straight practices and the Week 1 win over the Miami Dolphins. During the media viewing period, he wore a sleeve on his left knee but no brace. Kubiak stated the team will evaluate how Bowers feels pregame and will listen to the athletic trainers, including wellness coordinator Alex Guerrero, before making a final decision. The coach expressed optimism that Bowers will play in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints.

The injury was diagnosed last week, prompting surgery by Dr. Daniel Cooper. If Bowers sits out, Michael Mayer will remain the top tight end; Mayer caught six passes for 32 yards on seven targets against the Dolphins. Last season, Bowers faced a similar knee injury before the Chargers matchup, played in a 20-9 loss, but subsequently missed three games.
