Harbaugh Tackles Nabers to Ease Injury Fears

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers revealed that head coach John Harbaugh tackled him during a walk-through to ease his fears about returning from a torn ACL. "It just kind of evolved into an opportunity to tackle. And I couldn't pass it up," Harbaugh said with a smile Monday. "It was all in fun." Harbaugh added it wasn't the first time he's done that.

Nabers, in his first game action since last September, caught six passes for 69 yards in Sunday's 28-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys. He said he was "feeling good" after making a last-minute decision to play. "I knew everyone was worried about if I get tackled," Nabers said. "Actually, Coach Harbaugh tackled me in practice. He wanted to see if I could take a tackle." The 63-year-old coach didn't take him to the ground.

The situation caught the Giants by surprise. Quarterback Jaxson Dart said Harbaugh thought once Nabers got hit, he'd feel confident. "All of a sudden, [Nabers] goes down, and our team's super protective of him. So we all turned to look, and it's Coach Harbaugh tackling [Nabers]," Dart said.

Harbaugh said the Giants made it through the game fine on the injury front. Nabers has an extra day to get ready for a matchup with the Los Angeles Rams on "Monday Night Football."
