Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stated the team has "serious room financially" to make a trade after restructuring contracts last week. The moves created over $19 million in salary cap space, with NFLPA figures showing $33.6 million available. Jones emphasized the flexibility to pursue a deal, particularly to bolster the defense, even if it means sacrificing future draft picks.

He confirmed ongoing trade talks but said nothing is imminent. The Cowboys recently acquired offensive tackle Broderick Jones and a fourth-round pick from the Steelers in exchange for mid-round selections. Jones expressed confidence in the offense, highlighting Cee Dee Lamb, George Pickens, and quarterback depth, while indicating defense is the likely target for improvement.

The team holds 2027 draft picks in the first, second, fourth, and sixth rounds and will not receive compensatory picks this year. Jones stressed that while future draft capital matters, his priority is fielding the best possible team for the 2026 season. The NFL trade deadline is November 10.
