New England Patriots running back Tre Veyon Henderson will miss the regular-season opener against the Seattle Seahawks due to an ankle injury. Henderson, the Patriots' No. 2 running back behind Rhamondre Stevenson, last practiced on August 24 and left the field with trainers after slipping on a run play. The Seahawks, meanwhile, have ruled out safety Ty Okada and listed Nick Emmanwori as questionable, with signs pointing to him being unlikely to play in the Super Bowl LX rematch.

Emmanwori, a second-round pick in 2025 and last season's runner-up for AP Defensive Rookie of the Year, underwent July ankle surgery and has been limited on all three Seahawks injury reports this week. The Patriots still have starter Stevenson and recently acquired Corey Kiner at running back, and may elevate Lan Larison or Hassan Haskins from the practice squad. The Seahawks have been hit hard by injuries at safety, including Bud Clark's season-ending preseason ankle fracture.

Rodney Thomas II and AJ Finley are backup safeties on Seattle's practice squad who could be elevated for the opener. Henderson totaled 911 rushing yards on 180 carries with nine touchdowns last season and became the first Patriots player with four 50-yard runs or rushing touchdowns in a single season.
