With 4:50 left in overtime, Daniel Jones connected with Laquon Treadwell for a 50-yard gain to the Chiefs' 17-yard line. Trailing 30-27, Steichen called back-to-back runs for Jonathan Taylor, who lost 3 yards.

After a third-and-13 stop, Steichen said he was prepared to go for it on fourth-and-8 had the Chiefs shown a favorable look. He called a timeout and told Jones, "If you love it, man, let's go at it. Let's go win this thing.

But if it's not the right look ... let's kick the field goal here." The Colts took a delay of game penalty and kicked a tying field goal. Kansas City then drove for a 40-yard Harrison Butker field goal to win as time expired. Steichen also addressed deferring after winning the overtime coin toss, preferring to know what his team needed after a Chiefs possession.
