This week, the SEC owns half of the projected College Football Playoff field. Oregon's loss to Oklahoma State hurt the Big Ten, and if the playoff were today, No. 11 USC would be bumped for Boise State. The Allstate Playoff Predictor gives the SEC an 84% chance to send four or more teams, while the Big Ten is at 16%. The ACC has a 56% chance to send two or more teams, followed by the Big 12 at 41%.

In the ACC, Miami has a 50.8% chance to win the conference, outscoring opponents 122-13, but faces a weak schedule. SMU is an enigma, with a win over Louisville boosting its CFP chances to 40%, a loss dropping them to 11%.

In the Big 12, BYU took the early edge with a win over Arizona. Quarterback Bear Bachmeier accounted for four touchdowns, and the defense held Arizona to 87 yards in the second half. If BYU stays undefeated, its Oct. 17 game against Notre Dame will have huge playoff implications.
