Josh Kerr ended a sensational season by winning the Ultimate Championship 1500m title and $150k as the inaugural edition of athletics' new global event concluded in Budapest. Organizers reviewed the first Ultimate Championship as the sport took its first strides in a new direction. World Athletics president Sebastian Coe said the body's stance on Russian athletes "will not change." At the Great North Run, Kenya's Brigid Kosgei won the women's race as Eilish McColgan withdrew early with injury, while American Zouhair Talbi took the men's event.
