Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple aims to eventually update its larger HomePod, confirming the company remains committed to the full-sized speaker which was discontinued in 2021 and reintroduced in 2023. A new HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K, and smart home hub will be announced October 13, but the full-sized HomePod update will come later.

When released, the new HomePod will likely feature support for more intelligent Siri AI, requiring a faster chip than the current S7. Other upgrades may include improved audio quality, new color options, and Apple's custom N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support.

The full-sized HomePod serves niche users with home theater setups, as a pair can provide stereo sound as Apple TV 4K default output. Apple recently raised prices on the HomePod to $349 in the U.S., matching its original 2018 launch price.
