YouTube announced new features at its Made by YouTube event, including custom feeds accessible from the homepage that users can create via conversational AI prompts for moods, interests, or niches like workouts or documentaries. Users in the US will soon test these on web, mobile, and TVs. Creators can now organize Shorts episodically with custom thumbnails and sequential playback, ideal for microdramas.

Soon, users globally will be able to leave GIFs in comments via a searchable library in the mobile app this fall. On TVs, voice-to-text commenting will be supported where available. Ask YouTube gains shopping features like product recommendations and comparison tables.

YouTube Music adds Ask Music for artist insights and queue adjustments, plus Podcast Lineup—a gen AI-powered weekly preview of suggested shows—for global Premium and Music subscribers. YouTube also extended its exclusive Coachella streaming rights through 2030 and will pilot a live auto-dubbing tool for English and Spanish in early 2027.
