Microsoft Windows and Surface Event Set for October 7

Microsoft is hosting an event in San Francisco on October 7 focused on "how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC." The event comes months after NVIDIA announced its first Windows system-on-a-chip, the NVIDIA RTX Spark.

The timing suggests Microsoft may share more about the Surface Laptop Ultra, which the RTX Spark will power. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and Microsoft Executive Vice President of Windows + Devices Pavan Davuluri will attend. The trio is expected to discuss "latest innovations across Windows, NVIDIA RTX Spark, Surface and the broader PC ecosystem."

Allowing AI agents to handle more normal computer work is central to Microsoft and NVIDIA's shared vision. Microsoft has shown Project Solara devices, but locally running AI models requires powerful hardware. The Surface Laptop Ultra, announced in June 2026 with no availability details, seems built for that workflow. Other manufacturers have introduced RTX Spark devices, but pricing remains unknown. Microsoft's event could finalize those plans.
