Moss developer Polyarc has shut down, ending a studio that produced some of the earliest hits for the PSVR and Oculus Quest. The closure removes one of the few independent teams that built its reputation entirely around VR-first design.

Lenovo's Googlebook 15 looks decidedly premium in a fresh leak, with a high-resolution, high-refresh-rate display and an Intel Core Ultra 5 chip reportedly on board. If accurate, the machine would sit well above the budget tier that usually defines Googlebook hardware.

Acer is bringing back Packard Bell at IFA 2026, reviving a name that still conjures beige desktop towers, chunky CRT monitors, floppy disks and dial-up modem screeches. There is a catch: no US launch has been announced.

Apple & the iPhone Duo

Apple's first foldable, the iPhone Duo, is finally a reality after leaking more thoroughly than a communal tap, but it does not solve the biggest problems that have dogged the category. Reviewers who live with foldables daily see the same compromises Apple's rivals have spent years working around.

The iPhone 18 Pro and the Pixel 11 Pro stack up with more AI, better cameras and few reasons to switch ecosystems, a comparison that underscores how thoroughly both flagships now compete on software rather than specification sheets. Pre-orders technically begin tomorrow, September 12, yet Apple's store is already up and running with US pricing and carrier offers for both the iPhone 18 Pro and the Duo.

Android users should not ignore the launch: there are five features worth stealing from the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro for the next generation of Android phones. Looking further ahead, the obvious next step for Apple's foldables is to follow Samsung, ASUS and others toward both smaller and larger form factors — an iPhone Flip and an iPad Fold.

A footnote in the iPhone 18 Pro press release quietly confirmed that Apple is granting an additional year of free satellite features to owners of older, compatible iPhone models.

Samsung Galaxy

Samsung's Galaxy SmartTag 3 has surfaced in renders, and the design changes the company appears ready to debut do not strike observers as an improvement over the last generation. A separate leak lays out the design and colors for the third-generation tracker, which follows the original Smart Tag from 2021 and the Smart Tag2 from 2023.

Samsung is also working on open-ear clip-on wireless earbuds expected to launch as the Galaxy Buds On, and the first official-looking renders have arrived complete with additional detail. Another leak suggests the next Galaxy Buds could look completely different from anything Samsung has shipped before.

On the tablet side, Galaxy Tab S12 prices have leaked, and the rumor points to increases of as much as $200 — unwelcome news for buyers already absorbing higher flagship costs. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 makes the case for itself through multitasking, where its wide display and new software features turn the device into a genuine productivity machine.

In India, the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra are now available through Samsung's Certified Re-Newed program, with every device inspected, cleaned and refurbished before sale. Stateside, T-Mobile will knock $1,100 off the Galaxy S26 Ultra when buyers add a line on the Experience More or Experience Beyond plans, bringing the price down to just $5.56 per month.

Google, Xiaomi & Chinese Launches

If you are on the fence between the Pixel Watch 5 and the Pixel Watch, a side-by-side comparison may settle the decision quickly.

Xiaomi has opened beta recruitment for Hyper OS 4 across Global and EEA markets, with the usual caveat that beta software can misbehave. Honor, meanwhile, has confirmed that its Watch 6 Pro joins the Watch, Watch 6 Plus and Watch 6 Plus Motorcycle Edition on September 28, with a teaser posted to Weibo.

The Magic9 series will reportedly include a Super Edition carrying an enormous 11,000mAh battery, expanding a lineup whose design Honor has already shown off without sharing specs.

The Poco X8 Power is now on sale in India with a massive 10,000mAh battery, following its global unveiling earlier this month and an India launch alongside the standard X8 last week. Oppo has announced that the K14 Lite will arrive in India next week, joining the existing K14 and K14x.

The iQOO 16 has been shown from the rear after the company teased a redesigned camera module, with a debut set for later this month. And vivo's X Fold6, launched in China back in June, is finally nearing a global release.

Audio, Wearables & Accessories

Nothing may be preparing a Headphone 1 Pro with upgraded hardware and a more premium feel, with rumors pointing to a September arrival. Bose's second-generation QuietComfort Headphones earn praise for Ultra-level features and design tweaks that land in all the right places.

One reviewer found the FoKus Amadeus from Noble to be nothing short of revelatory — better, in their estimation, than the Bose QC Ultra Gen II. The Garmin Venu 3S just hit a historic discount at Amazon, a 36% cut on a watch one writer credits with transforming their relationship to running.
