Xiaomi dominated the headlines with its 18 Fold unveiling, a wide-style foldable powered by the Xring O3 SoC. We went hands-on with the device, which boasts a triple camera setup and a lightweight design. It arrives just days before Apple's expected foldable event, and initial impressions suggest it could be the best mid-size foldable you can't buy. Meanwhile, Xiaomi also announced the Pad 9 Pro Max, a flagship tablet featuring a 13.3-inch screen and a massive 12,000 mAh battery.

Huawei showed Samsung how a tri-fold should be done with its Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design, featuring an inward-folding hinge and upgrades across the board. The company also fully revealed the Pura X View, including its full specs, pricing, and launch date. One Plus teased the One Plus N6 Lite, expected to be the most affordable model in its lineup for India. Infinix launched the Xpad 30 Pro, an Android tablet with an 11-inch display and an 8,200mAh battery.

In India, Xiaomi confirmed the Redmi Note 17 Pro series will launch on September 15, with the devices packing a 10,000 mAh battery. Oppo officially confirmed its F35 series is launching soon, while iQOO has pre-orders live for its 16 and Pad Ultra devices. Realme unveiled a Harry Potter Edition of its 16 Pro smartphone and Buds T500 Pro earphones. Vivo confirmed its X500 series will launch in China on September 21, while Oppo detailed the Find X10 Pro Max’s triple 200MP rear camera setup.

Software & Updates

Samsung released the One UI 9 Watch beta for its Galaxy Watch6 series, as well as One UI 9 Beta 2 for the Galaxy S25 series, which includes features from the Fold8. Sony began rolling out the Android 17 update to its Xperia 1 VIII flagship smartphone. Samsung also announced it is shutting down two apps in December, vowing to return new and improved versions. Nothing reopened its Community Review Program, giving users a chance to test unreleased devices before launch if they apply by September 10.
