Stryker's SportSuite Vision app has been used for the first time during a hip arthroscopy at Duke Health, showcasing the Apple Vision Pro's potential in surgical settings. The application allows surgeons to view the operating room while integrating digital tools like arthroscopic and CT imaging directly into their field of vision. This technology aims to replace multiple physical displays, reducing the need for awkward bending and twisting.

By keeping critical information within the sterile field, the system streamlines the surgical process and improves ergonomics for the surgical team. The app received FDA De Novo authorization in July, marking it as the first authorized for intraoperative use with the headset. Beyond orthopedic procedures, the Apple Vision Pro has also assisted in hundreds of cataract surgeries.

Surgeons reported benefits including shorter operating times, reduced workloads, and significantly improved comfort. These findings suggest the device is transitioning from an experimental tool to a practical asset in the operating room, despite its limited commercial success in the consumer market.
