Dunkin’ President Scott Murphy will temporarily run the Atlanta-based company while longtime CEO Paul Brown takes temporary medical leave.

Murphy, who has been with Dunkin’ for several years, will step into the interim CEO role at Inspire Brands, the parent company of Dunkin’ and other quick-service restaurant chains. The transition comes as the company prepares for an initial public offering.

Brown, who has led Inspire Brands since its formation, is expected to return after his leave. In the meantime, Murphy will oversee day-to-day operations and guide the company through the IPO process.

The announcement was made in a press release, which emphasized that the leadership change is temporary and that Brown’s leave is for medical reasons. Inspire Brands has not disclosed further details about Brown’s condition or the expected duration of his absence.
