Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva has been stripped of her neutral athlete status by the International Skating Union, barring her from international competition. The 20-year-old had returned to skating in January after serving a four-year doping ban related to a positive test for trimetazidine at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Valieva was initially granted neutral status for the 2026-27 season, but the ISU refused her eligibility following the publication of a video featuring Russian president Vladimir Putin on her Instagram account.

Additionally, Russian men's skater Mark Kondratiuk, a teammate of Valieva's from the 2022 Winter Olympics, also had his status revoked. Russian athletes have been barred from competing under their national flag since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, though the ISU allows neutral participation. Valieva helped Russia win team gold in Beijing at age 15, becoming the first female skater to land a quadruple jump during the Olympics, but she and her teammates were later stripped of that gold medal following the doping violation upheld by CAS.
