Selby can climb from fourth to second in the rankings if he wins the title. He praised Highfield's safety play, stating he couldn't remember him playing a poor shot. Reflecting on his career, Selby noted he never imagined reaching 40 ranking finals when he started as a 16-year-old in 1999.
