Mourinho presented screenshots during a press conference, arguing that Atletico Madrid should have received two red cards in the first half. He suggested that the officiating difficulties, compounded by defender Dean Huijsen being sent off, fundamentally altered the match. However, Tebas argued that this narrative serves as an excuse to cover up shortcomings on the pitch.

Currently, Real Madrid sits fourth in La Liga, six points behind leaders Barcelona, who have won all seven of their league games. This tension follows previous conflicts between Tebas and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez regarding the European Super League and a formal complaint sent to the Spanish FA.
