Liverpool striker Alexander Isak will return to team training on Thursday, head coach Arne Slot has confirmed. The £125m club record signing has been sidelined since December after fracturing his leg and undergoing ankle surgery. Isak, 26, made 16 appearances for the Reds before his injury against Tottenham, scoring three goals.

The Sweden international suffered the injury during a 2-1 win over Spurs on December 20, after being challenged by Micky van de Ven. Isak joined Liverpool from Newcastle United in September for a British record transfer fee. "Alex is in a really good place," Slot said, noting Isak's motivation after Sweden qualified for the World Cup.
