The creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, have announced the show will be renamed "South America" in a satirical jab at President Donald Trump's recent geographic renaming efforts. The change, revealed on the show's official social media, replaces "Park" with "America" on the iconic sign, mocking Trump's executive orders to rename the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario.

Stone and Parker thanked their parent company, Paramount, in the announcement, dubbing it a "Skydance Capitulation"—a reference to the approved $111bn merger with Skydance, which is currently paused due to lawsuits from 12 US states. The creators have a history of targeting Trump, who has called the show "fourth-rate" after an episode depicted him in a compromising position with Satan.

The renaming coincides with the show's 29th season, set to premiere on 16 September. It follows Trump's recent AI-generated video showing him altering a "Welcome to New Mexico" sign to read "America," a move that sparked criticism from Mexico. The show's new title is a direct parody of Trump's unilateral name changes, which have faced international backlash.
