Chelsea has sanctioned Enzo Fernández by dropping him from the squad for the next two matches after the midfielder made comments during the international break suggesting he'd like to live in Madrid, fueling speculation about a potential move to Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old, who joined Chelsea for a then-British record £107million in 2023, previously expressed uncertainty about his future at the club following their Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in March, stating he didn't know if he would remain at Chelsea next season.

Head coach Liam Rosenior confirmed the disciplinary action, explaining that Fernández crossed a line regarding club culture despite his respect for the player as both a person and athlete.
