Samsung has partnered with CLEAR to bring verified digital IDs into Samsung Wallet, effectively turning Galaxy phones into digital passports. The new Samsung ID system uses biometric verification for faster identity checks both online and in person. Galaxy owners can now ditch their physical passports at over 250 TSA checkpoints across the U.S., eliminating the hassle of searching through carry-on bags during security checks.

Setting up the digital ID requires a valid U.S. passport and an Android device running Android 9.0 or higher. Users navigate to the Quick Access tab in Samsung Wallet, select Digital IDs, and choose Samsung ID with CLEAR. The system employs hardware-level security with Samsung Knox encrypting extracted passport data, ensuring access only through fingerprint or secure PIN verification.

Beyond airport security, Samsung ID with CLEAR works for age verification at select entertainment venues like BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. However, the feature remains limited to U.S. passport holders traveling domestically. Users still need a compatible TSA reader and may require a physical boarding pass depending on specific airport regulations, creating a partial digital transition rather than a complete replacement for physical documents.
