John Ternus is officially Apple’s CEO starting today, and his new bio page on Apple’s website reveals some of Ternus’s key priorities, as noted by Myke Hurley.

Today Apple updated its leadership page with John Ternus’s new title as CEO. Alongside the leadership refresh, Ternus’s official bio has been updated and expanded too. As noted by Myke Hurley at The Enthusiast, the new bio highlights three key narratives around Ternus’s time at Apple and the work that he cares deeply about. And two of those narratives are based on an all-new bio addition.

The new paragraph takes up nearly half the length of the whole bio, which is relatively brief overall. As a result, this one paragraph is a strong indicator of priorities that matter a lot to Ternus. To sum up the paragraph, Ternus cares about hardware “reliability and durability,” and “innovation in materials and hardware design,” with the goal of a reduced carbon footprint and increased product lifespans.

We’ve seen a big emphasis from Tim Cook on reducing Apple’s carbon footprint. Ternus is clearly signaling that will continue under his leadership. But this paragraph also emphasizes that Ternus is an innovator in hardware design, and aims to create products that last for many years.
