Ford is integrating Apple Maps into its upcoming Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform, making it the official navigation system for its new electric vehicles. This collaboration leverages Apple's Map Kit for Automotive SDK to deliver directions, real-time traffic, and accident information directly to vehicle displays.

Ford will also utilize Apple Maps' road-level data to enhance its Blue Cruise hands-free driving system, aiming for a more seamless autonomous driving experience. This marks Apple's first collaboration supporting self-driving technology.

The UEV platform is slated to underpin a range of affordable EVs. The first model, a midsize pickup truck, is expected around 2027 and will be priced near $30,000. Ford aims for these EVs to be more affordable than a used Tesla Model Y.
