IMF Prepares Senegal Debt Analysis Under Current Framework

The International Monetary Fund said that Senegal's debt sustainability analysis, or DSA, is being prepared under the "current framework" for low-income countries, according to a spokesperson. The country's debt analysis will also "take into account the implications of the transition" to the revised framework, "which will enter into force during the program period," a spokesperson told Bloomberg News via emailed responses.

The DSA is a key step for talks under a recently approved $2.2 billion financing program for the country, as it will assess Senegal's ability to repay its debt. The IMF and the World Bank are currently updating the debt sustainability framework for low-income countries, which is a tool that helps assess how much they can borrow.
