Grand Theft Auto VI is shaping up to be one of the biggest launches in gaming history, but it will remain a console exclusive at launch and for some time after. According to Jérémy Hartvick, a former Rockstar developer who worked on GTA VI until 2020, a port to Nintendo's Switch 2 handheld doesn't make sense. In an interview with Kiwi Talkz, Hartvick explained that the GTA audience likely wouldn't align with the Switch user base, stating, "If you're a GTA fan, you would probably buy a console on which GTA will come out." While he believes it's technically possible to run GTA 6 on the Switch 2 with visual compromises, he doubts Rockstar would pursue such a port.

Hartvick even suggested that with enough effort, GTA 6 could run on smartphones, though he likely refers to cloud gaming. Without a native port, emulators and translation layers like Valve's FEX and Proton might enable playable experiences on modern ARM systems.
