News from Taiwan indicates ASUS and MSI have sold their entire first production run of NVIDIA RTX Spark laptops before any units have shipped. Investor.com.tw reports the two manufacturers were allocated 100,000 units of the N1 and/or N1x MediaTek co-developed SoC for the initial run. Other launch partners include Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Microsoft, with Acer and Gigabyte expected to follow later.

NVIDIA plans a significantly larger allocation of 300 and 500 k chips for the next production run. Despite the sell-out, the expected starting MSRP of around US$3,500 in Taiwan raises questions about broader demand sustainability. It remains to be seen how the market will receive NVIDIA and MediaTek's Arm-based laptop SoC and whether the premium pricing will prove a barrier.
