AMD's Ryzen 5 5500F and Ryzen 5 7500 are now available in the US, but both are selling above their announced MSRP on Amazon. The Ryzen 5 5500F lists for $120, $20 over its $99 MSRP, while the Ryzen 5 7500 is priced at $210, $20 above its $189 MSRP. The 5500F has fluctuated between $118 and $125.

Both chips are sold directly by Amazon, not third-party sellers, indicating the pricing is not due to reseller markup. AMD revealed the budget chips nearly two weeks ago, but they only became purchasable recently. At launch, Amazon is the sole US retailer stocking either processor, with Micro Center and Newegg showing no listings.

The Ryzen 5 5500F is a 6-core, 12-thread Zen 3 chip on the Vermeer die, offering PCIe 4.0 and a 4.4 GHz boost clock, unlike the older Cezanne-based 5500. The Ryzen 5 7500 features six Zen 4 cores, DDR5, PCIe 5.0, and a 5 GHz boost clock within a 65 W envelope, essentially a 7500F with integrated graphics. A similar pricing pattern occurred earlier this year with the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 on Amazon, which launched $100 above MSRP before normalizing as other retailers entered the market, suggesting a potential correction here as well.
