Tammy Abraham scored twice as Aston Villa won 3-1 at Coventry City to reach the Carabao Cup fourth round. Abraham gave Unai Emery's side an early lead, but Victor Torp equalised with a stunning free-kick.

Ross Barkley restored Villa's lead before the break with a glancing header from Ibrahim Mbaye's corner. The 18-year-old winger impressed on his first start since his £47m move from Paris Saint-Germain. Abraham sealed the win with a close-range finish, setting up a meeting with Bournemouth.

The match was the first between the sides since Villa's 3-2 win in 2001, which relegated Coventry from the Premier League. It compounds a tough start for Frank Lampard's side, who have one win in five and face Nottingham Forest next.

Emery said: "We deserved to win." Lampard added: "We have to be better."
