The 26-year-old lasted only 17 minutes before being substituted following a hard tackle. Netherlands boss Xavi Hernández confirmed the injury, stating, "It's his ankle, that's all I know." The injury concern extends to Liverpool, where Gakpo is a key forward. This news arrives shortly after teammate Alexander Isak returned early from Sweden duty due to a minor injury. Both players have made strong starts to the season. Liverpool will hope to have Gakpo and Isak fit for their Premier League clash against Manchester City on Oct. 11.
