The Ontario Hockey League's Brampton Steelheads acquired 17 draft picks from the Sudbury Wolves for the rights to forward prospect Tanner Adams in a blockbuster trade late Friday night. Brampton's haul includes 15 OHL priority selection picks and, via the OHL's compensatory draft pick process, the fifth overall pick and a second-round pick projected 43rd overall in the 2027 OHL draft. Adams, 16, was selected third overall by Brampton in the 2026 OHL draft but was only interested in playing for the Wolves.

Adams played his minor hockey in Timmins, Ontario, and attended Hill Academy U16 AAA in Caledon, recording 88 points in 52 games prior to being drafted. While the Wolves missed out on Adams, they selected Kash Kwajah fifth overall. Rob Papineau, general manager of the Wolves, stated Adams is an elite person and leader passionate about playing in Sudbury.

James Richmond, general manager of the Steelheads, said the team did right by the player and will use the assets to build through trades. The Steelheads now possess a landslide of selections to build their roster for years to come.
