New York Giants standout pass rusher Brian Burns is believed to have torn his ACL during Sunday's 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Burns went down with a knee injury in the fourth quarter after former teammate Austin Schlottmann blocked him in the chest. He immediately grabbed his right leg and was helped off the field by teammates and medical personnel.

Coach John Harbaugh confirmed Burns would undergo an MRI to determine the injury's severity, noting there is some hope but no certainty until results are known. Burns, who entered the game with a low ankle sprain that kept him out of practice all week, is now likely out for the season. His absence would be a massive blow to a Giants defense that has recorded just one sack this season.

Burns ranked second in the NFL in sacks (16.5) last season behind Myles Garrett and has recorded at least 7.5 sacks in each of his first seven NFL seasons. He led the team with four pressures before exiting on Sunday, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. The injury compounds the Giants' offensive struggles, as quarterback Jaxson Dart underwent surgery Friday to repair a meniscus and MCL tear in his left knee and is expected to miss the regular season.

Burns, acquired from the Carolina Panthers in 2024 for second- and fifth-round picks, signed a five-year, $150 million contract and quickly became a team leader, serving as a captain under former coach Brian Daboll and on Harbaugh's leadership council this year. His loss leaves the Giants without perhaps their most important player on both sides of the ball as they face the final 14 games of the season.
