Coco Gauff is back in the US Open quarterfinals for the first time since winning the tournament in 2023. The No. 4 seed defeated No. 14 Iva Jovic 6-1, 6-4 on Monday night, marking her 10th consecutive win and ninth straight-sets victory—the longest streak of her career. Gauff advanced to face fifth-seeded Mirra Andreeva on Wednesday.

She praised her performance, noting she closed the match from love-30 in the final game. Gauff won her first major title at the 2023 US Open but was eliminated in the fourth round the following year by Emma Navarro and in 2025 by Naomi Osaka. She has not dropped a set since her first match at the Cincinnati Open, where she won six matches en route to the title, followed by her first four wins in New York.

This year, she reached three major quarterfinals for the first time in her career, becoming the youngest American woman to do so at age 22 since Serena Williams in 2003. Gauff said the quarterfinal moment feels less daunting now, though she remains grateful for the opportunity. Jovic, who had beaten Alexandra Eala in the prior round, aimed to match her best Grand Slam showing after reaching the Australian Open quarterfinals earlier this year.
