Trade Deadline Moves

John Carlson has been traded from the Capitals to the Ducks in a surprising move ahead of Friday's NHL trade deadline. The Wild acquired veteran defenseman Jeff Petry from the Panthers for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2026. Michael Bunting was sent from the Predators to the Stars in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick. The Blue Jackets bolstered their forward depth by acquiring Conor Garland from the Canucks as they chase their first playoff berth since 2020.

Contract Extensions

The Sharks locked up goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic with a two-year contract extension. Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Poehling agreed to a four-year, $15 million extension during his first season with the team. David Perron returned to the Red Wings in a deal that sent a conditional 2026 fourth-round pick to the Senators.

Trade Fallout

The Sabres were spurned by Colton Parayko, who invoked his no-movement clause to block a trade to Buffalo. Instead, they acquired Jets defensemen Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn to address their blue line. The Wild added Bobby Brink in a trade with the Flyers, bringing the Minnesota native back to his home state after he tallied 13 goals and 13 assists this season.

On-Ice Action

Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin faces potential suspension after being ejected for slashing Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin in the head. Malkin received a five-minute major penalty and game misconduct for the incident. The Golden Knights placed captain Mark Stone on injured reserve with an upper-body injury sustained in Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh.
