PKA, one of Denmark's largest pension funds, is committing DKK6.4bn ($980m) to unlisted European companies, part of a broader push that has seen its private markets platform raise close to DKK21bn. The move deepens the fund’s bet on private equity as a source of both returns and European economic weight, and channels fresh capital into a market it argues is starved of growth funding. The investments are being made through Institutional Investment Partners (IIP), the private markets business PKA founded and now co-owns with the Lars Larsen Group.

Rather than a conventional third-party fundraise, this is a pension fund deploying capital through its captive manager, which has raised nearly DKK 21bn this year across three private equity funds investing in unlisted companies.
