The announcement contrasts sharply with recent calls from AI industry leaders to slow development. A week prior, Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, published a proposal to curb AI development pace, echoed by executives from OpenAI and xAI.

Despite industry concerns, Trump argued that restricting U.S. AI progress would allow China to catch up. He is scheduled to meet with his Chinese counterpart next week, where AI is expected to be a key topic.
