President Donald Trump announced plans to create an "AI Force" and appoint an "AI czar" to lead it, posting on Truth Social that he will reveal his pick "in the near future." The president compared the new agency to the Space Force and vowed not to hinder the growth of the AI industry. "We will not in any way hinder or stifle the Growth of this incredible Industry," Trump wrote. "Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it, as it grows!"

Trump also shared a poll asking followers to rebrand artificial intelligence with terms like "extreme intelligence" or "supreme intelligence." The announcement contrasts sharply with recent calls from AI industry leaders to slow development. A week prior, Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, published a proposal to curb AI development pace, echoed by executives from OpenAI and xAI.

Despite industry concerns, Trump argued that restricting U.S. AI progress would allow China to catch up. He is scheduled to meet with his Chinese counterpart next week, where AI is expected to be a key topic.
