Nintendo launched its Customer Appreciation Sale on September 13, calling it one of its "largest promotions ever" and saying it was "made possible in part by tariff-related refunds". The company recouped $300 million in tariff refunds from the US government rather than passing them to customers.

The sale runs through September 26 across the eShop, Nintendo Store and retailers. It offers 30 percent discounts on digital games, bundles, DLC, physical games, Amiibo, accessories and merchandise. Nintendo recently raised Switch 2 pricing in the US, Canada and Europe after previously increasing prices in August 2025 due to import tariffs.

Earlier this year, Nintendo sued the US government to claw back tariff payments after the Supreme Court ruled Trump-era global levies were illegal. The company argues in court filings that it isn't legally required to return refunds to consumers. Meanwhile, Panic simply gave tariff refunds back to Playdate owners.
