Nexus Mods Acquires SteamDB To Strengthen PC Gaming Tools

Nexus Mods announced its acquisition of SteamDB, calling the community-led database "one of the most trusted resources in PC gaming." Founded in 2013 by Marlamin and x Paw as a hobby project, SteamDB grew difficult to maintain alone. Nexus Mods stated it began discussions when x Paw sought resources for long-term stability. The platform shares values with SteamDB, serving hardcore PC gamers.

SteamDB logs player charts, price history, and updates for the entire Steam catalog. Nexus Mods says behind-the-scenes improvements will focus on infrastructure, security, and scalability. While SteamDB will keep its current name and operate as usual short-term, Nexus Mods will start funding Steam keys traditionally relied upon by the community.

In a separate statement, x Paw reassured users the aim is to help the project survive rather than change what makes it special. He cited the rise of AI in a post-COVID world contributing to the end of "the internet we once loved," and his own passion for continuing. He expressed full confidence the Nexus Mods team will continue improving the project for gamers, developers, and publishers alike.
