Build A Rocket Boy (BARB), developer of the widely maligned MindsEye, appears to be shutting down. Several employees wrote on LinkedIn that their time at the studio is "coming to an end," and Kotaku reported BARB is set to close for good.

"With a very heavy heart I raise my green banner... I am 'Open to Work'," wrote principal talent acquisition partner Dan Hawkins, implying all employees are out of a job. "I will be seeing BARB through till the very end."

MindsEye had a disastrous June 2025 debut, with PlayStation issuing refunds to some players. Layoffs followed, and founder Leslie Benzies reportedly blamed "saboteurs." A spring expansion and summer multiplayer additions failed to turn fortunes around.

BARB became sole publisher in March after parting with IOI Partners. Further layoffs occurred in March and May. Earlier this year, dozens of employees accused the studio of installing invasive Teramind surveillance software without consent, per the IWGB Game Workers Union.
