Meta announced at Meta Connect that its AI Glasses will receive a new Hearing Enhancement feature later this year, designed for users with mild to moderate hearing loss. The software has been cleared by the FDA and is eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement, though users must coordinate with their insurance carrier. Access requires a Meta One subscription or a one-time payment of $149, with a 30-day free trial available.

The feature does not require a prescription and can be set up at home. Wearers can activate or deactivate it anytime using the voice command "Hey Meta, start Hearing Enhancement." This differs from the existing Conversation Focus mode, which improves audibility in noisy environments. The update also includes improvements to the Detailed Responses feature based on feedback from the blind and low-vision community, alongside new customizable audio and controls.

Notably, the Ray-Ban models are not supported at launch.
