Instagram Expands School Partnership Program Features

Meta Instagram has expanded the capabilities of its School Partnership Program, allowing partner schools to post Stories and Notes visible only to verified students. Launched last year, the program prioritizes moderation reports from participating schools, with Meta promising responses within 48 hours. Schools can now create clubs and teams as centralized hubs for communication, where admins can post Stories, Notes, and Channels for important updates. These updates can reach students, parents, and teachers, though only verified students see the Stories and Notes. Third-party service UNi DAYS handles student identity verification before joining a school community. Verified students gain access to a school directory and can add a school banner to their profile visible only to followers they follow back.

The expansion aims to foster safer, more connected school communities on Instagram. Admins for clubs and the overall partner program at each school can manage these new features. For example, a basketball team admin can post tryout calls directly in the school's Stories. The features are rolling out today to participating schools.

Meta emphasized its commitment to student safety and engagement through these tools, building on the program's initial focus on bullying and harassment response.
