Muting your Android phone can unintentionally silence your alarms, leading to overslept meetings. Luckily, most Android devices let you keep calls muted while alarms still ring loudly, though the steps vary by manufacturer.

First, tap a volume button to open the volume slider, then tap the three-dot icon. If an alarm slider appears, adjust it to your preferred level. If not, head to Settings > Sound & vibration > Volume and drag the separate alarm slider. On Samsung phones, you can make the alarm slider appear in the expanded menu by setting a short timer in your alarm app, then accessing the volume menu while it rings.

If alarms still won't sound, check your Do Not Disturb settings and make sure alarms are allowed. Other common culprits include Bluetooth audio routing to earbuds or car speakers, battery optimization settings restricting your alarm app's background activity, and third-party alarm apps not being set as the default alarm app.

If your phone keeps using the native clock app instead, none of your third-party alarms will go off. Exclude your alarm app from battery restrictions and ensure it's set as default for the best results.
