Audio-Technica has launched the $279 ATH-AL5NC Open-Back Wireless Headphones, completing its open-back lineup with a wireless option. The headphones feature 53mm drivers and support high-resolution 24-bit/96k Hz wireless audio via LDAC, alongside AAC and SBC codecs. Multipoint Bluetooth pairing allows simultaneous connection to two devices, while battery life reaches up to 75 hours with a quick-charge feature providing eight hours from a 15-minute charge.

The open-back design allows airflow to reduce heat buildup and delivers a more natural sound presentation with minimal clamping pressure for comfort. However, this design inherently leaks audio and cannot provide true noise cancellation. The CONNECT app offers EQ presets, codec selection, and modes for low-latency gaming, noise reduction, and sound leakage reduction.

Available today, the ATH-AL5NC includes a 1.2m (3.9-foot) cable and carrying pouch. While priced higher than alternatives like the $150 HyperX Cloud Alpha Air, the wireless convenience and open-back acoustics target audiophiles and remote workers who prioritize sound quality over isolation.
