Apple will sell approximately 6 million units of the iPhone Duo in 2026, according to analysts' forecast, which may be more promising than it first appears. The iPhone Duo has yet to go on sale, but that hasn't stopped analysts from declaring what they believe the sales will be for the foldable model. In the case of one forecast from Counterpoint Research, that figure may seem to be a disappointment at first glance.

Apple could sell around 6 million units in 2026, Counterpoint told Bloomberg. Analyst Ivan Lam says that the final figure will depend on how well Apple ramps up production for the new model. The production woes of the iPhone Duo were prominent in pre-launch rumors. In a Tuesday report, Foxconn's assembly yield is allegedly just above 60%, with it unlikely to reach Apple's high standards for six months to a year.

It's fair to say that 6 million units isn't a massive amount on the Apple manufacturing scale. When it comes to the main iPhone lineup, Apple is predicted to be making approximately 80 million iPhones in total between Q4 2026 and Q1 2027. The 6 million figure is for sales of the iPhone Duo in the last months of 2026, a shorter timeframe from the six-month overall production forecast.

To Counterpoint, 6 million units is closer to what you'd expect a production run of a foldable smartphone would have. Even at this lower level, the iPhone Duo is expected to help increase interest and sales in foldable devices. Considering the production line immaturity and the scale of sales forecasts relative to the rest of the folding smartphone market, the iPhone Duo doesn't seem to have a particularly bad future ahead of it.
