A supply chain leak has revealed new details about the A20 Pro chip that will power the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, suggesting improvements in gaming performance and everyday usability.

The leak, posted on the Weibo social network, claims the A20 Pro's layout was reverse-engineered from solder positions, allowing the leaker to identify various chip components. Based on this analysis, the A20 Pro's efficiency CPU cores are expected to have 8MB of L2 cache, up from the 6MB found in the iPhone 17 Pro's A19 Pro.

Meanwhile, the performance cores are believed to retain the same 16MB of L2 cache as before. On the GPU front, the layout suggests a seven-core GPU, an increase from the six-core GPU in the A19 Pro, potentially boosting gaming performance on the new iPhones. The additional L2 cache for efficiency cores could also reduce latency for smoother daily tasks.

If Apple follows its typical release schedule, the A20 Pro will debut in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, with potential use in the rumored iPhone Ultra foldable device.
