Apple's rumored AI-powered home security system is now projected to launch in 2027, according to a new Bloomberg report cited by AppleInsider. The system is expected to include a home hub, security cameras, and a monitoring service, marking Apple's renewed push into the smart home security market after effectively abandoning HomeKit Secure Routers due to limited vendor support.

The privacy-centric system will reportedly rely on on-device AI to analyze camera feeds for movement rather than continuously recording video. This approach captures metadata — such as timestamped detection events — instead of raw footage, reducing bandwidth usage and speeding up alerts. Video recording would presumably activate only when the AI detects specific triggers.

Apple has already laid groundwork through Apple TV 4K, which can display feeds from compatible cameras and acts as a home hub. Previous rumors suggested a security camera and video doorbell could arrive by late 2026, but the latest roadmap places the full system alongside iPad and MacBook Neo refreshes in 2027.
